Back in 2009

Just realized that is has been a long time since I blogged, infact almost 2 years ago.

Lots has happened since then and am sure I cant blog it all at once. Overall 2008 was personally good but professionally not so good. May be I'm just too greedy ;)

But am glad '08 is over. Looking forward to a different '09. Althought so far nothing has changed, am hoping change is round the corner.

I dunno if I mentioned this ever before, but I always had a fascination to come to US after seeing some of my older cousins return to Vizag by flight and all the attention they were getting got me motivated. But after I came to the US in '03 my fascination was all gone in may be an hour. I was like "Now that I am here...so what?". From that point forward I have started developing this yearn to go back home and be an entrepreneur. Challenge always is "what do I do?" Right now am in the process of figuring that out and may be it'll take me another decade (hopefully faster...fingers crossed) before I figure it out. But then being an entrepreneur is only the first (unimportant) part. Most important part is being a social entrepreneur.

So in the grand scheme of things, what matters and what doesnt? That is the big question I am grappling with. Each day I need to ask myself - "What did I do today that will help me get there?". If the answer is nothing, may be I need to start changing that. I am hoping change is round the corner.

Until my next post....here's me and my wifey wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2009. Take care y'all...

New Year....

This year has been simply amazing.

To start off, I got engaged on 10th January to a sweet, nice and beautiful girl that I have known for 4 years....Ramya Mandava. She is from Vijayawada, not too far from where I grew up. She's in her pre-final year of engineering with a major in CS. Our wedding date has been set for November 30th, 2007. Another reason this year is special.

Following the first job offer that I received according to my last blog entry, I recieved two more after that. One of them was too good to turn down. So have accepted an offer with Chevron as a Business Analyst. The position is based in Houston, TX. Will start to work from June 25th, 2007. My first time taking up a full-time job in the corporate world. Another reason this year is special.

Am flying to Frace in a week from today. Will be in Paris for 5 days and the remaining 7 days in Provence, near Marseille, Southern France. Will be there for 12 days over spring break. My first time in Europe. Another reason this year is special.

Well, this is what I can think of for now....now I have to go for a 3000-mile service for my Jetta :) Adios....

Also I turned 24 last September. Bought a new '06 Volkswagen Jetta, October 2nd. Finished an internship with UPS in Atlanta. n' that about all the random n' relevant stuff I can think of right now....before I head back to finishing the write-up for the case I was working on....

Random Post

It has been a long time since I posted on the blog. So I thought "Why wait for a theme?"
  • First thing that is coming to my mind.....Friend from MBA program (Naoshi) became a father of twins yesterday. It was a twin boy and a girl. I along with some MBA friends went to see the couple (Naoshi and Debbie) and the "cute" little babies (Alex and Sasha) today. It was the first time in my life that I have seen twin infants. They were really cute. You can check out the pics here.
  • Yesterday was last day of my first semester of the MBA program. It ended on a high note with an "End of Semester Party". There was lots of booze and music. But I did not drink......awwwww........as I had a bad throat. Yesterday.....celebrating the last day of semester.......on Hillsboro St (right next to NCSU campus) there is an informal event called "Hillsboro Hike" where students start from one end of Hillsboro St. and visit all the bars along the way till they reach the other end. Supposed to be lots of fun.....:).....but as I was'nt drinking.....did not go for the hike too :( There were supposed to be some "Girls Gone Wild" on the street last night. But being a good boy that I am.....did not think of taking advantage of the opportunity ;)
  • Ten more days and I will be done with the finals. Then I will get to visit Minneapolis (to see my cousin) and then will get to visit Duluth for a day. In Duluth.....I am longing to eat "Heated Caramel Apple Pie With Ice-Cream" at Perkins. hhhhhmmmmmm that takes me just a step away from heaven. Neways apart from that want to eat dinner at Green Mill. That coupled with a walk by the lake with a visit to UMD will make my trip to Duluth complete. Ofcouse meeting with Apu n' junta will also be important.
  • The weather in Raleigh has been very good. Have always managed to go around with a regular wind jacket. So things have been totally different from last winter....for the better.
I have been writing this blog entry since yesterday, and if I continue thinking, I will not post it at all. So I will post the entry here. Wish you all a safe and enjoyable winter break. Merry Christmas. I will wish you all for New Year when it is due :)

Will be with my sis n' brother-in-law for 7 days. Will visit Duluth for a day. Then will be flyin' to San Francisco....for a Cali trip. Am lookin' forward for that. Until then....gotta concentrate on finishing this sem. Infact I am having fun with each of these subjects I am learning(except for economics....I somehow dont' get it). I am loving each day of the MBA program. It only gets better I guess. :)

What a week!

Had three mid-terms in the last week. Had one on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each. Don't even ask how they went by, cos' I dont' know myself. Then to top this, had an interview with Chevron. I think I did pretty good, but again cos' that was my FIRST job interview experience in my life, I dont' know what to compare it against. Now here's the best part - We went to a place called Bogart's in downtown Raleigh. It was so much fun to be around my MBA buddies and have a drink, which I had after a loooooooooooong while. I drank a sour-apple martini, which was supposed to be famous there n' it lived up to its reputation. Now this was with around a batch of 7 of us there. Had fun till 1:30 in the night, came back home and could'nt sleep until 3:00. Just could'nt wake up for class that starts at 9:00. But had to make it. I was beginning one of my most enjoyable days in Raleigh, Naoshi invited all of us(MBA ppl) for a party at his place(in ChapelHill). The party was to start at 4:00 and we arrived on time(at 6:30). The party started off pretty sober with a few beers and blue martini's for everybody. Then our French DDDDDDDJJJJJJJJJJJ Vincent rolls the party dance floor with LOUD music n' disco lights (thanks to Naoshi's future thought while building his basement). There is one person who just can't hold himself from taking the initiative n' dance - none other than the god of love himself- Partha. Partha rocked(literally) the dance floor and soon others followed suit. I had 2-3 shots of taquellia, one shot of gin and lots of other drinks (like martini and smirnoff greenapple). U know what's next. Was kinda high, not when compared to most others there. Danced a lot, had good good fun. I think this was my best time in Raleigh. Naoshi, thanks dude. Here is a link to check out some party pics @ Lou. So what was it about that week, I dont' know but it sure makes me feel good. Now, I have another exam to prepare. n' am leaving for a trip to Smoky mountains this Friday. Lookin' forward to that. Okay guys, now am gettin' used to this new place n' with new ppl.
